On April 5, the Pennsylvania Utilities Commission (PUC) finalized a CHP Policy Statement requiring electric and natural gas distribution companies to file biennial reports on CHP development in their territories, asking PUC to staff prepare biennial reports identifying favorable programs and recommendations regarding the development of CHP in the Commonwealth, and launching a CHP Working Group. The Alliance previously commented on the proposed action and is excited about the PUC’s leadership in this area. Indeed, the CHP Policy Statement will support greater use of CHP in Pennsylvania and ultimately help make Pennsylvania’s manufacturers more competitive, increase the reliability of the electric grid, and lower emissions. In response, the Alliance wrote a letter to the Commission to thank it for its leadership. You can find our letter here and a copy of the PA PUC press release here.
