On April 24, the Alliance for Industrial Efficiency submitted written opponent testimony regarding H.B. No. 6—short titled: Creates Ohio Clean Air Program—to the Ohio House Energy and Natural Resource Subcommittee on Energy Generation. The Alliance opposes H.B. No. 6 because it weakens the state’s Energy Efficiency Resource Standard (EERS), specifically Section 3706.471 which creates an “opt-in” provision for the efficiency standard. The energy efficiency standard increases manufacturer competitiveness by significantly reducing their energy costs and provides considerable potential for CHP deployment as well as continued investments in industrial energy efficiency measures in Ohio. Weakening the standard will undermine the competitiveness of Ohio’s manufacturers and limit job growth in the state.
