Today, the Alliance submitted comments to the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) regarding the Integrated Resource Plans (IRPs) submitted by the two biggest utilities in the state: Arizona Public Service (APS) and Tucson Electric Power (TEP). The IRPs include the utilities’ projections for the long-term energy and capacity needs of the electricity system and proposals for energy investments to meet those needs. The Alliance recommends APS and TEP: (1) include CHP and WHP as supply resource options in their IRPs and (2) strengthen their industrial energy efficiency program offerings. We recommend that APS and TEP each establish official goals of deploying 50 MW of additional CHP and WHP capacity by 2022. You can read our comments here.
