On May 1, the Combined Heat and Power Alliance released the results of its COVID-19 pandemic economic impact survey. The CHP industry employs numerous Americans, saves money for consumers, increases system resilience, and reduces harmful carbon and greenhouse gas emissions. The current pandemic is impacting clean energy sectors across the country, including the CHP industry. Respondents to the survey are engaged across sectors in the CHP industry, including in manufacturing, distribution, installation, operations and maintenance, and finance. Nearly all respondents report that they are somewhat or severely impacted by the pandemic, and 49% laid off or furloughed employees without pay.
