This week, the Alliance published a profile of Franklin Shelkey, a sheet metal journeyman who completed a five-year apprenticeship with the Sheet Metal, Air, Rail & Transportation Workers Local 12 (SMART) union outside of Pittsburgh. The profile details just one of the many types of energy efficiency jobs helping to grow the economy – thanks, in part, to Pennsylvania policies like Act 129 that encourage businesses of all sizes to save energy.
