On December 14, the CHP Alliance submitted a set of comments to the Puerto Rico Energy Bureau on behalf of 29 businesses and organizations regarding the Docket Case No. CEPR-MI-2016-0001 Resolution for initiating the process for the adoption of a definition of the term “Highly Efficient Fossil Fuel Generation,” for the purposes of Act 6-2019.
The Bureau signed a Resolution on November 12 that defines conditions within the Act 60-2019, which would result in several distributed cogeneration projects throughout Puerto Rico being disqualified for tax exemptions under Act 60. In response, the Alliance provided a set of recommendations on how the Bureau should define the conditions for distributed cogeneration projects, including suggestions on the Emissions Component, Thermal Energy Utilization, and Thermal Efficiency definitions.
The Alliance believes that the Energy Bureau should take our recommendations into consideration as it will lead to a more efficient and resilient electric grid for the citizens of Puerto Rico.
