Washington D.C. (August 16, 2022) – The Combined Heat and Power Alliance, a diverse coalition of businesses, labor, contractors, utilities, non-profits, organizations, and educational institutions that support the deployment of Combined Heat and Power (CHP), applauds Congress and President Biden for passing and signing the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 (IRA) into law. This landmark legislation provides powerful near-term incentives to deploy CHP to improve our economy’s energy efficiency and reduce emissions. In addition, the bill includes important incentives to produce the fuels of the future, like clean hydrogen, that will fuel the next generation of CHP systems, and provides incentives and programs for non-profit, commercial, and industrial energy users to improve their energy efficiency, where CHP and Waste Heat to Power (WHP) can be deployed as a crucial part of the solution for those energy consumers.

“We are thrilled with the signing of the IRA into law today and all the provisions that will spur deployment of CHP and WHP across America. CHP is a proven technology that makes America’s manufacturers and other businesses more competitive by reducing energy costs, enhancing grid reliability, and reducing harmful emissions.” – David Gardiner, Executive Director, Combined Heat and Power Alliance
