Today, the Alliance send a letter of support and gratitude to Senator Shaheen for re-introducing the Heat Efficiency through Applied Technology (HEAT) Act (S.1711) and for her strong leadership on energy-efficiency issues. The HEAT Act would establish a federal framework to help states develop solutions to meet growing energy demands efficiently and economically through the use of CHP and WHP technologies. By addressing the challenges facing CHP and WHP, the HEAT Act will help strengthen local economies and support national energy policy goals. As Senator Shaheen states, “Both combined heat and power systems as well as waste heat to power systems provide clean, efficient and reliable sources of local energy that will reduce pollution, create jobs and help make American businesses more competitive. These technologies are good for our economy and good for our environment, and we should be doing everything we can to spur their use.” The Alliance urges the Senate to take up this bill for consideration promptly and pass it without delay.
