The Alliance has published a series of case studies on industrial energy efficiency program success stories, featuring Crown Battery, HARBEC, Inc., Kraton Polymers, Nissin Brake, and United Technologies Corporation. Today, we released a new case study featuring Solvay Specialty Polymers USA. These case studies serve as examples to help other manufacturers learn about adopting energy – and money – saving projects at their own facilities.

Solvay is an international chemical and advanced materials company. Solvay partnered with DTE Energy Services (DTEES) to install a combined heat and power (CHP) plant in Marietta, Ohio. The CHP system at Solvay provides 100 percent of the company’s steam supply and 97 percent of its electricity to drive manufacturing at the Ohio facility and it is also estimated to reduce energy costs by $10-15 million over 20 years. Thanks to the CHP system, Solvay now has a reliable power and steam source at a very competitive cost.
