The Alliance filed comments today on EPA’s Clean Power Plan, which sets emissions limits on greenhouse gases from existing power plants. Our comments commend EPA for recognizing the important role of energy efficiency, but urges the agency to explicitly state that CHP and WHP at hospitals, universities and factories are valuable tools that can help power plants reduce their emissions. Our comments also offer recommendations to ensure that the efficiency and reliability benefits of large CHP systems are credited. We also ask EPA to provide guidance to states so that they have the tools they need to incorporate CHP and WHP into their compliance plans. Read the comments here.
