May 7, 2026 (Washington, D.C.) – The CHP Alliance and more than 40 businesses, manufacturers, end users, trade associations, non-profits, and other entities sent a letter urging House and Senate leadership of the Energy and Water Development Appropriations Subcommittee to support robust funding for technical assistance & workforce development programs in the fiscal year 2027 budget. Specifically, the letter requests no less than $12,000,000 in funding for the Onsite Energy Technical Assistance Partnerships (TAPs) program along with the continuation of the Better Plants Challenge within the Department of Energy’s Office of Innovation, Affordability, and Consumer Choice. Together, these programs represent a highly cost-effective federal investment that delivers measurable benefits to American businesses, workers, and the broader economy.
We encourage Congress to continue supporting the funding level for these DOE programs to help advance the Administration’s stated priorities of supporting domestic manufacturing, enhancing grid reliability, and strengthening American energy security.
