April 22, 2025 (Washington, D.C.) – The CHP Alliance and more than 60 businesses, manufacturers, end users, trade associations, non-profits, and other entities sent a letter urging House and Senate leadership of the Energy and Water Development Appropriations Subcommittee to support robust funding for combined heat and power programs in the fiscal year 2026 budget. The letter supports funding for the Onsite Energy Technical Assistance Partnerships (TAPs) program within the Department of Energy’s Industrial Efficiency & Decarbonization Office (IEDO), specifically:

  • $45,000,000 in funding for the Technical Assistance and Workforce Development program within IEDO, including explicit mention of not less than $15,000,000 to support CHP-related activities within the Onsite Energy TAPs program.

We encourage Congress to continue supporting the funding level for this DOE program to help businesses, developers, end users, and other interested parties identify opportunities for CHP use, overcome barriers to the deployment of CHP and other onsite energy technologies, and make American manufacturers more competitive.
