The Alliance filed comments on the Department of Energy’s Assisting Federal Facilities with Energy Conservation Technologies (“AFFECT”) Grant program for 2015. This program provides federal funds to help finance clean-energy projects. The program has historically extended to CHP and supported a 7.9 Megawatt installation just last year. Unfortunately, CHP is noticeably absent from the 2015 announcement. Our comments urge DOE to expand the program to include both CHP and waste heat to power, noting that these technologies advance the program’s goals of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and strengthening the nation’s economic, energy and environmental security.
