On April 8, 2021 from 1:00 – 2:00 pm ET, the Combined Heat and Power Alliance hosted a webinar about hydrogen fueled combined heat and power (CHP) systems and current and prospective applications of hydrogen fueled CHP.
Participants learned about the energy efficiency attributes of CHP systems, which result in lower greenhouse gas emissions and how fueling these systems with hydrogen has the potential to reduce emissions even further. The panelists discussed the methods for generating hydrogen fuel, examples of currently operating hydrogen fueled CHP systems, the infrastructure requirements needed for hydrogen fueled CHP systems, and the potential applications for hydrogen fueled CHP in the energy marketplace. The panel also discussed the barriers to widespread adoption of hydrogen fuel to generate thermal and electric energy, and what federal policy steps can be taken to address those challenges.
