The Alliance submitted comments to the California Air Resources Board applauding the state for recognizing the role of industrial energy efficiency in California’s Clean Power Plan. The letter also cites the Alliance’s recent report on the potential carbon reductions (and related utility bill savings) from the industrial sector, which finds that California is one of the top ten states for such reductions. By increasing industrial energy efficiency, including CHP and WHP, California can reduce annual carbon dioxide emissions by 6.2 million tons in 2030 – more than 100% of California’s emission reduction target – while saving businesses $35.3 billion from avoided electricity purchases.
