Alliance Opposition Testimony on Substitute House Bill 114 in Ohio

The Alliance submitted written testimony to the Ohio legislature opposing legislation (Substitute House Bill 114) that would create a special exemption for mid-size (“mercantile”) customers to the state’s energy efficiency programs. Our testimony explained that the proposal would weaken Ohio’s energy efficiency standard and leave fewer resources to support efficiency investments in the state. By creating special exemptions for these customers, Substitute House Bill 114 would leave small businesses and Ohio families to cover the costs of reducing energy use in the state. Energy efficiency programs work best when everyone participates.

The Alliance also shared a letter from one-dozen Ohio contractors, which raises similar concerns about the proposed opt-out.
