The House Ways and Means Committee will soon consider how best to address the section 48 investment tax credit. The Alliance wrote to the Chairman Brady and Ranking Member Levin, urging certainty that will allow greater deployment of CHP and waste heat to power (WHP) technology. The Alliance requests that the ITC for CHP be extended through January 1, 2022, and allow projects to qualify so long as they commence construction before this deadline, rather than the date that they are placed in service. The Alliance also asked that waste heat to power be added as a qualifying technology for the investment tax credit. Finally, the ITC for CHP has seen its effectiveness limited by project size and capacity requirements for eligibility. Click here to read our full letter.
